Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google to analyze the website traffic and reports from a single place. With the business insights and reports, Google Analytics helps every content creator to boost their sales.
Launched in 2005, Google Analytics has grown more than just an analytics tool to help track website traffic. Over time and updates, it has been more a business-centered service that helps to better understand your customers.

Good question, if you’re like me who hated the complex tools and options inside the Analytics toolbar, and just thought “Why the hell I need to use it?“. You can although view the traffic from Jetpack or other simple tools that provide a straightforward answer. The why Google Analytics?
If you can relate to this, think twice and just accept that you’re wrong, you need Google Analytics if you want to grow your content to a lot more people.
If you’re like, “What if I can drive a lot of traffic without this tool?” and challenge me. My answer is simple: Yes, you can do it, but it will be only 1/100th of what you should be getting and will be just 1/10 of the work you need to do for that traffic with Google Analytics.

How To Install Google Analytics?
Now, that you’ve decided to install Google Analytics on your site, so how do you do it without any hassle? No worries, installing it on your site is pretty simple and will take no more than 300 seconds but reading this article will take you more than that!
Step 1: Create a Google Account
Why you want a Google Account? Just because it is a Google product, my love!
Most of us have a Google account, the one you use for GMail, YouTube, Docs, and everything Google. Just login with your current account or create one if you don’t have already. Follow this link to create a new Google account now.
If you want to keep all Google Analytics data onto a separate account rather than your personal Google account, you’re free to do it. Just create a new account like you don’t have one.
So now you’re ready with Google account, now what? Scroll down to Step 2!
Step 2: Setup Google Analytics
Setting up Google Analytics is easy and guided so that you wont have any confusions. Just visit the Google Analytics homepage and click on Start Measuring. Next few steps are guided and you can answer according to your business and regional settings.
On proceeding, you see 3 sections of setting up your account.
First, under the Account Setup section, you’re asked to enter the Account Name and check the Data Sharing Settings.
Next, under Property Setup, you’re asked to enter the Property Name which you’re free to give any name you want. Also, make sure to enter the correct Reporting Time Zone and Currency for a better and more personalized experience.
On the 3rd section, under About your business section, you’re required to specify your business information like your category, no. of employees etc. This is just to get Google an overview of your business.
On completing the 3 sections of setting up your Google Analytics account, you’re good to click on the Create button and get started.
Now just you have created the Google Analytics account and the next step is to add your site to it. It’s a simple work to do and will be done in no time.
Now, you’re on this page, don’t worry if you don’t find this. Google may update the interface to keep it neat and modern. You may find this in the side menu where you have a lot of controls.
From this page, click on Web as we’re connecting a WordPress site.
On clicking Web, you’re now landed to a page called Set up data stream. Enter you website URL, and your website name under the field Stream name. Finally, click on the Create stream button to proceed.
Yes, you have now succesfully created and set up your Google Analytics account. You’ve got your own Tracking ID (Measurement ID) which is unique and used for tracking the visitors on your site.
As Google Analytics is set up, how do it tracks your website traffic as we haven’t linked both rather than just typing the URL? No, with just URL, Google Analytics can’t track your website traffic. For connecting your WordPress site, you need to copy the Tracking ID to your website.
Step 3: Install Google Analytics on WordPress
For connecting with WordPress, you have a lot of methods to do it. We will guide you with the easiest and better way of doing it, by installing a plugin called MonsterInsights.
Head over to Plugins>Add New from your WordPress dashboard and search for MonsterInsights. It is a popular Google Analytics plugin for WordPress and is used by millions of WordPress users worldwide. Install and Activate the plugin to get started.
Once the plugin is activated, you can see an Insights tab on your WordPress menu that is created by MonsterInsights. Click on Insights bar to complete the setup.
On visiting the Insights tab, you can see a guided setup for completing the MonsterInsights setup. You’re well guided and select the options according to your needs and business.
Now you’re asked to connect MonsterInsights to your Google Account so that it can connect your site to Google Analytics and fetch the data from it.
Once you’re redirected to your Google sign-in page, enter the account information in which you’ve set up Google Analytics before.
After signing in, Allow the permissions to MonsterInsights to fetch the data from Google Analytics.
Now that you’re Google Analytics properties are fetched by MonsterInsights and you’ll be redirected to the set up page on your WordPress dashboard. Click on Complete Connection to finish the set up process.
Now, MonsterInsights may ask for some addons or recommended settings, you can select the default setting or manually adjust the settings as per your business needs like Affiliate tracking etc. Also, you’ll be asked to install some addons which you can try or else skip without any hassle.
Now your site is connected to MonsterInsights, you can view your reports by visiting Insights>Reports and you can get all your traffic, sessions, page views, and many more metrics to help you analyze your traffic performance.
As MonsterInsights is installed, you don’t have to leave your WordPress dashboard to view your stats and Analytics data. Every metrics is accessible right from your WordPress dashboard in few clicks.
